Online retail sales continue to flourish
Oct 24, 2016
There was positive news in the world of eCommerce this week as it was reported that online retail sales are continuing to flourish. Yippee!
The October 2016 IMRG Capgemini Sales Index Report, which reported September results, showed that UK e-retail sales grew 15.7% year-on-year in September and increased 7.8% from the previous month. It also reported that online only retailers outperformed multichannel retailers for the second month in a row and that Britons spent an estimated £10.6 billion shopping online during September, resulting in total estimated spend YTD 2016 reaching £90.6 billion.
In addition, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) also highlighted that online retail sales have jumped and reported that spend online now accounts for 15% of retail sales, rising from 12.6% last year.
As you know, peak season is just around the corner. The Black Friday sales rush alone is expected to result in £5 billion being spent online between Thanksgiving on Thursday 24th November through to Cyber Monday on the 28th. Here at wnDirect we are already seeing record volumes and are preparing ourselves for the BIGGEST and BUSIEST peak season to date.
If all goes to plan, the world of eCommerce will be seeing 2016 out with a bang! We say bring it on!
